It's hard to believe, but not too long ago I used to work in Washington, DC as a Medical Rapid Prototyping Engineer. The entire department consisted of myself and two doctors. We were the sole provider for the entire Department of Defense. We used new technology utilizing 3-D imaging of CAT scans and MRIs to create laser-produced anatomical models for patient reconstruction, treatment and surgical planning. My extensive medical background brought me to discover I have a love for learning and providing the best possible care to those around me.
But, I never had enough time in my day for my family, my home, and myself. The lab environment didn't afford me very much time to be around anyone and I truly missed my calling.
Being a highly-recognized professional often seen in the national news, major publications, and winning awards, I realized it wasn't enough. I wanted to provide something near and dear to me: Time.
A life-changing event in my life made me realize that time is our most precious and perishable asset.
I had always been a perfectionist when it came to cleaning my own home and in every other aspect of my life. I decided to start a house cleaning business after my husband,
SSG John Daniel Shannon, was critically wounded in a gunfight in Ramadi, Iraq. A long-time military family, we were facing medical retirement and starting our life over. "Dan", my husband, was recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. Our life was forever changed. It was time for my own change, and I had a new outlook on life.

My husband then went on to testify before Congress the following month. He was seen again last September on the front page of the Washington Post. He's often in the news and seen on commercials aired nationwide. I am sure you can imagine how difficult it could be keeping a home together and managing our busy schedule!
We moved to Suffolk, VA and started over. Now that our life has settled down, I am able to dedicate my time and resources to helping other families and individuals with keeping their own homes free from chaos and a haven for relaxation and respite.
That's how Tailored Maid Services got started. I had a desire and passion for making the lives of everyday people free from chaos and stress.
I decided when I started this company that I was going to offer personalized house cleaning services, unlike the franchises who have a list that they go by when they clean your home. They have a list and only clean what is on the list. When we clean your home, if we see something that needs cleaning, we simply clean it.
